Walking Football as Medicine Returns for 2026

Following a highly successful pilot last year, the Walking Football as Medicine initiative is delighted to return for 2026 with two venues across Dublin.

Led by Age & Opportunity Active and proudly supported by Parkinson’s Ireland, this uplifting programme offers people living with Parkinson’s the opportunity to take part in safe, structured and enjoyable physical activity within a welcoming community setting.

Walking football provides gentle, enjoyable exercise that supports balance, coordination and mobility, areas that can be affected by Parkinson’s. The slower pace and no contact rules make the game safe and accessible, while the friendly and social atmosphere helps to reduce isolation and boost overall wellbeing.
