Environment and Parkinson’s Disease Study

Are you living with Parkinson’s disease?

Researchers at Trinity College Dublin are looking for five people living with Parkinson’s disease to take part in a new research project exploring how environmental factors may influence Parkinson’s disease.

This project is funded by CHARM-EU and brings together researchers from:

· Trinity College Dublin (Ireland)

· Utrecht University (The Netherlands)

· Universitat de Barcelona (Spain)

What is this project about?

Scientists believe that environmental factors throughout life may play a role in Parkinson’s disease, but many questions remain unanswered.

This project aims to better understand how environmental factors may be linked to Parkinson’s disease by combining scientific evidence with the experiences of people living with the condition.

Examples of environmental factors include:

· Pesticide exposure

· Air pollution

· Living or working near industrial areas

· Other long-term environmental exposures

The findings will help researchers develop a new Environmental Framework for Parkinson’s disease to guide future research.

Who can take part?

You may be eligible if you:

· have Parkinson’s disease;

· are willing to take part in two workshops;

· would like to share your views and experiences.

No previous research experience is required.

We particularly welcome participants from Dublin, Cork and Limerick, although anyone living in Ireland is encouraged to express their interest.

What will I do?

You will take part in two interactive workshops, where you will have the opportunity to:

· discuss environmental factors that you think may be important;

· share your experiences of living with Parkinson’s disease;

· help researchers interpret the findings;

· identify priorities for future research.

You can attend:

· In person at Trinity College Dublin, or

· Online via Zoom.

Workshop period: September–October 2026

(Each workshop will last approximately 2 hours)—

Thank you

As a thank you for your time and contribution, you will receive a €50 gift voucher.
