Election of Shane O’Brien as Chairperson of the Disability Federation of Ireland (DFI)
We are proud to share that our CEO, Shane O’Brien, has been elected as Chairperson of the Board of the Disability Federation of Ireland (DFI). The DFI is a national support and advocacy organisation representing over 100 voluntary disability organisations across Ireland, including Parkinson’s Ireland.
In his new role, Shane will help lead the strategic direction of the DFI as it continues to champion the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities nationwide.
Just last week, Shane, together with a delegation from other umbrella bodies within the disability sector, met with Minister for Children, Disability, and Equality, Norma Foley. The meeting focused on the growing challenges facing the sector, including sustainable funding, access to services, and long-term planning for improved supports.
We congratulate Shane on this well-deserved appointment and look forward to the impact of his leadership at a national level.
