Walking Football as Medicine Comes to Cork

Parkinson’s Ireland is delighted to support Walking Football as Medicine (WFAM), an enjoyable eight week programme designed to help adults living with chronic conditions or impairments stay active in a safe and supportive environment.

Walking Football is a non contact version of the game that focuses on movement, teamwork and enjoyment rather than competition. The sessions are low impact, making them suitable for a wide range of abilities while offering significant physical and mental wellbeing benefits.

Participants can look forward to improving their fitness, balance and coordination, boosting their mood, making new friends and enjoying a welcoming community atmosphere. Each session is led by trained coaches and is followed by tea and coffee, providing an opportunity to socialise after the activity. Family members and carers are also welcome to attend.
