Up Date on North West Family Fun Day which took place on Sunday April 2nd 2023.
A lovely spring afternoon, ideal weather for our walk.
There was a large turnout of walkers and helpers. Big thanks to all members and their families and friends, all of whom have made the last two days such a success. Yesterday Kevin Fitzsimons and his wife, Marie, gave up their day to organise the bucket collection. As a result of their hard work I think all the collectors will agree it ran faultlessly. A big thankyou to all collectors too especially on such a wet and chilly day.
Today our main sponsor was Riverside Hotel, who gave us the room and teas/coffees and biscuits without charge. Thank you.
As last year, Miriam Cunningham and her colleagues at Fitness4All, Strandhill, deserve a huge thank you as they gave up their afternoon and organised the three walks, provided all the registration facilities and music prior to the walk as well as leading everyone in a warm up.
It was lovely to see Sligo Rovers players taking part in the warm up and a big thank you to them for coming along to support us. (And Kevin Fitzsimons for inviting them). Thankyou to those who helped with the raffle, obtaining prizes, organising and selling tickets. And of course the great generosity of Local businesses and friends in Donegal and Sligo who donated prizes.
Thank you too to the musicians, Eileen Carr and her daughter, Nora, Maureen Giblin’s three daughters, Edel, Lorraine, and Mairead, and Sam Regan, who entertained us with their song s and music at the end of the afternoon.
And how lovely it was to have Paula Gilmour, CEO, of Parkinson’s Association of Ireland, attend our walk and speak to us after the walk about the Parkinson’s Association and the services they provide.
Finally without walkers this would have been a non event. Thanks to all who came out this afternoon and to all those who advertised our event.
